Pimps tattoo their names on prostitutes’ bodies to mark their ‘property’: Police find gang marked hookers as sign of ‘loyalty’

A gang of pimps in Poland had their prostitutes tattooed to mark them as their property.
One
of the women found during a raid on the gang's brothel in Gdansk,
north-east Poland, had 'faithful b**** of Leszek' tattooed down the side
of her torso.
The
same woman also had 'I love my Lord and Master, property of Leszek'
inked down the length of her leg. A second prostitute had the words to
Bryan Adams' Please Forgive Me across her back in gothic handwriting,
with the name of her 'owners' beneath.

According
to police not all the eight women discovered in the brothel had been
tattooed; those that had been were apparently selected to reward them
for their loyalty.
Three
brothers - Leszek Baranowski, 26, Pawel, 34, and Olek, 31 - were
arrested along with 21 other men alleged to have run more than 70 girls,
making over £1million off them over four years.
Most
of the women were forced into working as prostitutes, police said,
although some of the women apparently did it voluntarily.
Pimps
in the U.S. have long tattooed the prostitutes who work for them to
indicate their 'ownership'. They can take the form of the pimp's
initials, name or even his likeness, more or less obviously placed on
her body.

Coercion: Most of the women were forced into prostitution, police said, although some did it voluntarily
The
Polish gang told officers all their tattooed girls had willingly worked
for them and volunteered to have the tattoo as a 'sign of loyalty'.
Prosecutor
spokesman Mariusz Marciniak confirmed: 'Many of the women they were
using were forced into the business but at the moment we don't have any
evidence that those that were tattooed were forced to undergo the
procedure under duress.'
He added that it seemed more likely they were a reward for 'loyalty' and 'good service'.
